Frequently Asked Questions
WHO CAN TAKE ART CLASSES?
Several courses being offered this summer are designed especially with secondary students (middle and high school) in mind, but courses are intentionally open to all ages — for those entering 7th grade and up. Professionals in early and mid-career will also find our courses challenging and enriching.
I’M A FIRST-TIME ART STUDENT. WHAT CLASS SHOULD I TAKE?
Beginning Drawing is a great place to start. Our instructor will work with students on perspective, lighting, positive and negative shapes — all the essentials for artists just starting out.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Click or tap Enroll Today on each class page. You will be redirected to a payment form hosted by Plasso with payments processed through Stripe. We will follow up soon with any important details about the beginning of course.
WHERE WILL MY CLASS MEET?
Leaf Institute of Art & Vocation is located at 1278 Pendleton St., Greenville, SC 29611 in a 2,600 square foot room known as Village Studios & Gallery.
ARE SUPPLIES INCLUDED IN THE TUITION PRICE? WHERE ARE THEY LISTED?
We will list any needed supplies and their estimated cost on each course page. Some drawing courses may have only $30 in supply costs, while others may cost $100-200 or more.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS?
We ask that you attend each class, but if something comes up such as sickness or family emergency, just let your instructor know. There may be a chance to make up your studio time another way. There are no refunds for missed classes.
IS FINANCIAL AID AVAILABLE?
We will soon be launching a tax-deductible scholarship fund, but at this time there is no financial aid available.
HOW DO I BUY A CLASS AS A GIFT FOR SOMEONE?

HOW DOES PATHWRIGHT WORK? WILL I BE ABLE TO ACCESS MY COURSE MATERIAL AFTER IT IS COMPLETED?
Pathwright is a simple but robust online education platform — built by educators, developers and designers working right here in the Village of West Greenville. Schools and brands all over the world use Pathwright to power their teaching and learning. As a Pathwright user, you will be able to review your art course long after classes end. You'll use your Pathwright login for all future courses.
WHAT ARE SOME HELPFUL BOOKS ON ART?
Visit our Recommended Resources page to browse a growing list. We’ll be adding more books, films, and resources soon.
ARE YOU ACCREDITED?
Leaf Institute of Art & Vocation primarily offers a la carte classes for personal enrichment and as supplement to secondary education. We are not accredited, though we plan to partner in an adjunct capacity with local schools. Our teachers often have advanced degrees in their area of expertise.
COULD YOU OFFER A CLASS ON…?
We are thankful for any feedback and ideas for future classes. Our only limit is access to qualified instructors that embody the mission of the Institute, and confidence that we can fill classes with motivated students. Please let us know if you have any ideas.
YOUR WEBSITE MENTIONS THAT YOU ARE FAITH-BASED. HOW DOES THIS INTEGRATE INTO THE CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE?
Our instructors approach their work from a Christian, faith-based perspective. This means that we believe art is a good gift from above. We will highlight God’s creativity and character as it naturally comes up in the classroom. In book study courses, we will often choose titles that explore the connections between faith and art. Leaf Institute of Art & Vocation warmly welcome students of all faiths and backgrounds.
IS THERE HOMEWORK OUTSIDE OF CLASS?
Some courses will include short videos, questions for reflection, or brief drawing exercises outside of class. Because we have a studio art focus, the vast majority of your work time will be in class.
WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?
A refund minus 15% of the cost of the course will be given to students who cancel at least 14 days prior to the first day of class. No refunds can be provided after this date, as our instructor and classroom planning depends on advance notice.
HAVE YOUR TEACHERS COMPLETED BACKGROUND CHECKS?
Yes, all instructors and class assistants undergo background checks.
